NAILPLASTY UTILIZING S.T.S.G. IN SUBEPONICHIAL POCKET AND INSERTION OF A PROSTHETIC NAIL

Abstract

|
Nail injuries are one of the most common injuries of the hand end the complete loss or deformity of the nail causes cosmetic as well as functional problems.
Many reconstructive procedures have been introduced in the post for reconstruction of the nail but the results have been variable.
The authors by creating o subeponichiol pocket end by lining the pocket with a split thickness skin graft harvested from the hypothenor area. Stabilized for one week with a silastic sheet acting as a stent which was then replaced by on acrylic artificial nail ad tus were able to create a new nailfold with nail.
The authors have used noilplosty utilizing S.T.S.G. in subeponichial pocket end insertion of o prosthetic nail successfully in five fingers of four young female patients with aesthetically acceptable results end is presented with review of literature.
